Caribbean Wind Works was founded after a thought of the founder when he visited Bonaire some time ago.

He noticed a number of old windmills, used to extract water from wells, scattered around in the landscape. Many were broken due to lack of maintenance in the harsh Caribbean environment. Being a technician he investigated the feasibility to get them working again. It turned out these particular windmotors were made of cast-iron, therefore repair was not possible. He decided to work on an improved design, taking into account specifically the corrosive circumstances in the Caribbean. This resulted in a proprietary design of a waterwell windmill with a height of 12 meters in total and a rotor diameter of 3.5 meters.

During development it became obvious there was also great demand for a wind motor to generate electricity. In the meantime this design has been finalized. The first version will be put into operation shortly.

Based on the waterwell motor design a screw conveyor motor has also been developed, which recently has been put into operation in The Netherlands to pump water from a moist, regularly flooded, terrain to a nearby canal.
